Stones of Cevennes

This collection of new works is inspired by the landscape of the Cevennes national park in southern France. Each piece combines delicate raw brass elements with found rocks from the region to form carefully balanced systems mixing precise and rugged forms.

Stones of Cevennes is my first distinct collection of kinetic sculptures. I love the topography of the Cevennes which was once a terraced agricultural landscape of dry stone walls, goats and chestnuts but is now wild with evergreen oak, craggy streams and beautiful silvery rock (see photos).

Every mobile in the collection was made by hand in France taking up to two days per piece depending on the complexity.

This particular mobile is the first in the series and features nine brass elements in two arcs on a single spine counterweighted by a lone black stone. Including the brass top arm, it measures 25cm wide by 55cm high at its furtherest extent and rotates freely so requires a clear cylinder of at least a 12.5cm radius to move freely. The piece is supplied with 40cm length of clear wire with a hand-made brass hook for hanging.

Postage and packaging

For all mobiles in this series I am packing them in card presentation boxes for safe transport (see photo showing example packaging). This means the postage isn't the cheapest as the process of sticking each mobile down is rather fiddly but, trust me, it is worth it especially when gifting.

*Please note I am away from London between the 21st of August and 8th of September so if you place an order in that period I will send it when I get back.

If you have any questions about this work, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
